I joined a BOOT CAMP

Inspired by Ms. Ho I was browsing MeetUp.com the other day and started looking for running buddy or workout meetups. I found Celtic Endurance. I randomly RSVPed yes for an upcoming bootcamp and thought not much of it.

Then Maureen emailed me.

She let me know that it was full but I could sign up for the Mon/Weds class. $160 for 4 weeks (2 times a week) in Golden Gate Park. A bit of a commute but it's only 4 weeks so I decided to give it ago.

I joined a BOOT CAMP!

Turns out while I am in serious pain I do love it. I can already see a change and what I love about her class is that it is small, all women, and she not only kicks your ass in the sessions, she also gives you a plan for the week on what to do on your non-boot camp days to help you reach the goals you explain to her.

The classes are tough but the ladies in the class are pretty awesome (and diverse in athletic ability and age, etc). I think it also helps that a tiny lady with an Irish accent is yelling at you to run faster.

She took measurements on Day 1 and will again after the month is over.

This should be interesting. Updates to follow... we'll see if I can make some progress in a month!

Almost a year....

Been thinking about starting up some writing again. Random life on-goings and updates for the 2 people that read it.... past tense. Stay tuned.

Y-M-C-A

I joined the Y about 2 weeks ago and I already constantly smell like chlorine. Here is to hoping the new chlorine shampoo I got works before my hair returns to it's green tinted straw like form from childhood.

As you may have guessed I joined for the use of their pool which is conveniently a 5ish block walk from work in somewhat the direction of home which makes it hard to pass up when I'm off work. I know myself pretty well and I knew that if I made it SUPER easy to do I would have no choice but to do it. Also having a few friends keep tabs on me by making me feel guilty for slacking has help a ton too!

I've gone at least 3 times a week since and I love it. 5 lanes arranged by speed so you don't get stuck with the slow pokes. 25 yard pool. Hot tub that is not disgusting. Steam room and Sauna in the locker room. It's quite lovely.

The plan is to balance the pool with more running/walking so that I don't get all out of balance with the ridiculous swimmer shoulders I had in high school. Just semi-ridiculous :)

Sing it with me ... Y-M-C-A

Motivation...

I have lost my motivation and need some help!

What motivates you to get to the gym or the pavement and kick ass (besides a killer ass)? I was so good for 5 months then it just died.

Any advice?

Snow in May!

The last two weeks dumped another foot plus of snow in the sierras which means we're going up to Tahoe for the weekend for some spring snowboarding. There is nothing better than snowboarding in only a hoodie in the sunshine...

Reno here we come! :)

The Avett Brothers

Happy Monday!

So I saw this band on Saturday night at the Fox Theater with the roomie and parents. The Avett Brothers. I had only heard a few of their songs 1-2 times so I knew I liked them but I knew almost nothing about them.

They did not disappoint at all. They were totally awesome live and I am now listening to them on repeat. I think everyone if the opportunity presents itself should go see them live because they are great on CD but they are a really fun band to see live. You should go for the onstage dancing and energy alone. You'll understand when you see it.

The opening band was called Truth And Salvage Co. and they were fun too so check them both out!
